Jane Macmillan, Painter : Water colour / ink , Acrylics/ ink.
Jane Blanch Macmillan was born in Tetbury, Gloucestershire, England in 1946, and graduated from the Legat School of Russian Ballet in 1964. Subsequently she toured with the Harlequin Ballet Company, based in London, England, for three years before emigrating to Canada in 1969. Although , by profession, a teacher of classical ballet in England, Africa and Canada (BC, Quebec and Ontario) she has recently become increasingly absorbed in producing visual art using watercolor or Acrylic together with pen and ink, and is primarily self taught. Recent inspiration has been garnered by visiting various communities in Nunavut, of which Cape Dorset (off Baffin Island) became a catalyst for her recent and first body of work. The open expanses of tundra, beautiful Arctic flora, amazing sunsets, multicolored rock and deep blue water in summer, and glacial scenes tinged with low hovering sunsets and sunrises in winter – coupled with her deep love of the Creator and His creation has prompted a flow, albeit slow, of paintings. Modest successes so far have been one commission of a painting, plus a commission for decoration of a screen. 2007 Focus Art juried art show:
